2010 Greeting

     Ask yourself, “Why am I a UMW woman today?”  I thought about that question and then came up with these thoughts.  I became a United Methodist Woman after being helped by the UMW unit in my church.  I was a single mom who was not only unsure of herself but also who was without friends and family nearby.   The Woodland UMW unit  took me in and gave me the necessary support that I needed.  I  joined a Bible study group that helped me to get centered with God.  I couldn’t have become the person I am today without those dear friends being there for me.  Because of their presence, I was able to grow in Christian faith, and receive the mission education that resulted in my being able to work in both my church and community.  By using those tools that I had learned in UMW, I became strong enough to deal with situations that life does throw at me today.

            That’s why it is so important to be a member of UMW in these chaotic times.  Women in our churches and communities need our organization to be there for them.  [more]
